Had the chance to go out to Las Vegas this last month to bust a set for the heads out there. Had lots of fun and made some new friends which is never a bad thing. Enjoy.
Luckily the first installment of Skratch Pad, Portland chapter was happening when i was making my visit back home. I was honored and privileged to be a part of this in doing a showcase to really set things off! Thanks to my guy Ozroc who came to me and invited me to be a part of this historical event for Portland’s elite DJ/Turntablist community. Here’s a video of my showcase from that night.
This past weekend i was honored to be part of this dope turntablsm showcase at the Delicious Vinyl headquarters on Sunset BLVD. This was a live stream showcasing nothing but straight turntablist performing routines and showcasing who they are. Even though i had a hell of a day literally living in the LA traffic,i made it there just in time to do my set and catch one of my influences and DJ pioneer himself, DJ P-Trix. It’s always a pleasure hanging out with all these talented and skilled DJ’s in the area. It really puts me in a mindset of “damn,i need to practice!” These guys are top tier in the turntablism/turntablist/battle/scratch scene. Here’s a video i took of P-Trix showcasing some of his most well known routines! Respect too all the cats who where there, you know who you are!
So I recently had the opportunity to participate in this Needle To The Record DJ Competition in Atlanta,GA @ A3C Hip Hop Festival 2012. I was out there initially to rock a one off show with the guys (CunninLynguists) but had been invited to be in this battle. Long story short, the battle had been pushed back a whole hour from the time it was scheduled but only made me more eager to get up and do my routine. In turns, i ended up taking the battle and the grand prize home! (Native Instrument products,$100 gift certificate for Sam Ash,Flud turntable watch,$500 cash) Thanks to everyone who was a part of the battle! I had lots of fun and intend to come back next year to try and hold my title down as NT2R champion!

Big shout out to ALLLLLLLL the DJ’s that came out yesterday to this event. I had mad fun being out with my lovely lady, battling, scratching, meeting new faces and making new friends. This is what its all about! I entered the Cut 2 Cut battle (head to head Q & A scratch battle round about) and The Dirt Style Vinyl Challenge (all competing DJs get the same 3 hand selected chosen records to use and make 2 x 2 min routines for battle). Competition was a bit stiff but i held my ground as much as i could in the Cut 2 Cut but was no match for my dude DJ IQ (Handroidz) who was killing it all day in the open table session. The Dirt Style Masters challenge was my favorite because i was the most prepared for doing those 2 x 2 min rountines. 1st round had some skipping but none the less i played it off as if nothing happened and got my way passed. 2nd round i had a flawless set and was able to show my full potential by then. That ended up in me winning! Props to Juyadek for showing mad skill as well. He really threw down a dope routine with the Bionic Booger breaks using the kung fu sound track section.
Shout out to Antriks for putting together the event and Jawa for being a trooper of a host! Also shout out to Thud Rumble and Mixwell for the sponsor and prizes!
